POP MUSIC ON STRINGS

Radio Music Society (or RMS for short) is a design and passion project that I created with my brother and a few of our friends. We wanted to infuse the medium of a string quartet with the democratic likes of pop music in order to reach the largest possible crowd, and show people that stringed instruments can actually be cool.

THE (POP) MUSIC

The heart and soul of the group depends on the execution of the music. Months (and even years) of playing music allowed for the creation of customized musical arrangements that would be the basis of the content that the group would push. The music itself was all written by members of RMS and received visual stamps for titles and cover art to brand it as an RMS-made piece of work.

THE (MUSIC) LIBRARY

With all the music that we had written, we decided we needed a place to store and access the music for posterity. We created a digital database that had all the music as accessible PDFs for the group's members to view and download on demand.

ART DIRECTION AND DESIGN

As a part of pushing the group's existence around the community, we turned to Art Direction and Design to create an identity that pushed our pillars of the group's brand which was quirky entertainment. Each event was themed with it's own microcampaign and design world. We wanted to show our audience we that this medium of music straddled the line between popular and traditional.
